The mission of the Holomicrobiome Initiative is twofold:
- to learn and predict how microbiomes in the Dutch food system work and interact by initiating, coordinating, bundling and integrating research in various domains, and
- produce early evidence of efficacy and safety of innovative microbiome-related applications in all domains by means of theoretical computational models that have been validated in practical settings.
Implicit in this mission is the objective to forcefully promote long-term microbiome-related innovation and economic opportunities with the help of targeted public and private R&D investments.
